冬至進補要合宜 

冬至,是北半球中晝最短,夜最長的一天,從冬至過後日照會漸漸增長,陽氣從此時萌生,進入了一輪新的節氣循環,到了現代依然延續著傳統,將冬至視為一個重要的節日,與春節、端午、中秋並列為四大節 ,在香港更有「冬至大如年」的說法,一家人團圓吃飯,豐盛的盆菜象徵缽滿盆滿,代表橫財就手的燜豬手,意寓圓滿的湯圓,這些意頭菜為來年取個好兆頭。南方民間也流傳著「吃了湯圓長一歲」的說法。在北方有諺云: 冬至不端餃子碗,凍掉耳朵沒人管。相傳是紀念醫聖張仲景的「祛寒嬌耳湯」,東漢時期張仲景看到許多鄉親因天寒凍傷了耳朵,便用麵粉做成耳朵形狀的嬌耳,配上一大碗藥膳羊肉湯,發給來求藥的民眾,吃完後耳朵發熱,凍傷的耳朵也治好了,因此,現代還是保留著冬至到,家家戶戶吃水餃的習俗。

冬至是陰消陽長的關鍵點,也是人體陽氣初生的時期,這一天的精心調養,關係到未來一年的身體健康,因此而有「冬至進補,春天打虎」的說法,宜注重在防寒,養藏,補陽,益陰等四大原則,飲食以溫熱為主,避免生冷與海鮮等寒性食物,適當的運動並常呼吸新鮮空氣,可預防呼吸道疾病,早睡晚起勿操勞與發怒,讓潛藏的陽氣得到養護,乾燥的冬天,忌食辛辣和燒烤的食物,溫和的羊肉、韭菜、桂圓、大棗、芝麻,以及當令的新鮮蔬果,都有利與滋養的效果。
